April 13, 2009
Easter flowers, 2009.
On Saturday the 11th, sister Sylvia asked me to purchase Easter flower arrangements for our parents graves. We
decided that dried or artificial flowers would work best.
I obtained artificial carnations and roses (both white),
small flower pots, floral wire, green styrofoam potting disks, small metal garden stakes, and Acrylic water at
Wal-Mart.
Saturday night, Sylvia assembled the two arrangements, adding three red artificial roses to each.
I attached two pieces of floral wire to the bottom of each pot. I mixed the two-part acrylic water
and poured it into each pot. The acrylic water cured overnight into a clear and hard sealant that made the
arrangement more resistant to blow over by wind. The two sections of floral wire were wound around a garden stake
placed on either side of each pot.
A few minutes before noon on Easter Sunday we arrived at the Linwood Cemetery in Graham. From the side street we
observed sister Kay and a relative at our parents grave site. We decided not to interrupt Kay during her grave
visit. We returned to the cemetery ninety minutes later and added our flowers to our family's cemetery plot.
